I do feel as though blues musicians tread the same path too often, but this is awesome

The blues is like salt.

Adding salt to your food makes it taste better, but it makes it taste better whether the food is good or not. So even though salt doesn't make food bad, salty food is usually bad because it's an easy way to make food palatable without having good ingredients or being a good cook.

Similarly, blues isn't inherently an inferior type of music, but bluesy feel is constantly added to garbage music so that it sounds okay despite being garbage. That makes it a semi-reliable sign of music being shit.
