Is this the best jazz album of 2017 so far? Also 2017 jazz albums thread
My favorite so far is Matthias Müller's solo trombone, but I have a bias towards solo and duo formats. Also, Nate Wooley's Complete Syllables Music comp; Alice Coltrane's comp for jazz adjacent; Toxic for trio; Jaimie Branch's Fly Or Die for more straight ahead stuff

Wow I'd never heard of him, this is great. What other solo/due albums do you know? I personally love small setting improv too

From 2017, I've just heard the Müller record and the Wooley one. Looking forward to Teddy Rankin-Parker though, which will be solo cello. Some of my favorite solo improv from before though:
Michel Doneda - Anatomie des clefs

Polly Bradfield - Solo Violin Improvisations
Steve Lacy - Clinkers
Evan Parker - Process and Reality
Anthony Braxton - For alto
Leroy Jenkins - Solo concert
Fred Frith - Guitar Solos
Anthony Braxton - saxophone improvisation series f
Evan Parker - Six of One
Cecil Taylor - Wilisau concert
George Lewis - the solo trombone record
Abdul Wadud - by myself
Evan Parker - the snake decides
Ken vandermark - site specific
Evan Parker - Saxophone Solos
Ned Rothenberg - trials of the Argo
Anthony Braxton - alto saxophone improvisations 1979
Lol Coxhill - The dunois solos
Evan Parker - Monoceros
Alex Ward - cremated thoughts
Andrew Cyrille - what about?
Jeff Parker - slight freedom
And then my favorite from last year was probably Will Guthrie's Cafe Oto set; I think 10.5.16 or something
