He's probably one of the best at what he does.
Some songs are catchy, some are happy, some are sad and they are, at least for the most part, devoid of any pretention, which makes them sound almost innocent and childlike.

It's not because something is simple or popular that it is worthless or bad.

Other than that, he seems to be a genuinely nice dude.

As others have said, the most unpretentious guy to record probably which is endearing and he can write some catchy campfire songs. That album specifically is really solid. He's not the height of art or culture but thats what I like about his music, and not in a 'fetishize the plebeians' kind of way
