Youre not a bad musician if you can play well, but youre a bad artist if you cant create

Honestly just mess around, play a note, then go oh that'd sound good if i did this after and then this. Just do whatever sounds good
Also keep the idea of tension and release in mind, play things that dont quite fit or feel awkward and transition back into a normal melody
But thats just what i do

t. self taught, dont know any songs or music theory
