Can anyone learn to sing? And: Are vocal lessons worth it?
I'm a 20 year old dude and can't match pitch for shit. When I try to sing it sounds like those cringe american idol videos where the contestant misses literally every note. I don't have a speech impediment or messed-up voice or anything like that though.

Former vocal major, yes. Get a good teacher, you absolutely can.
There's phone apps for all that shit now didn't you know?

You don't need to sing well, really. Lots of (granted, not past one (or a few) hit wonders) artists can't sing.

i've been singing for like 13 years and i didn't have formal lessons for a long time. i had no idea how to sing at first but with practice i got pretty good.

No, a lot of people are tone-deaf. It's like how some people, try as they might, with all the resources, lessons, time, connections, can't draw anything to save their life.
People are better and worse at different things. That doesn't mean that people with abilities still don't have to work a lot to hone their practice though.

there's a huge difference between being tone deaf and just being bad at singing. you have likely never met anyone who is actually tone deaf
