this is the best album of the century so far. feel free to debate me on this
there is no use in debating a nu-male
>>73291917
what makes you assume i'm a nu-male?
fuck off with hyped hipster garbage. Stevens is good but holy fuck this is like his weakest effort yet.
I went to my local record shop and picked this up for $12. Not even a jewel case either, but I figured, "Ah whatever, I love Stevens. It'll be worth the cash." Boy was I let the fuck down.

how is it possible to love Sufjan and not adore this album?
I honestly think it's one of Sufjan's weaker albums. I don't know why people automatically think sad = good.
>>73291946
It's not an assumption; you made this post.
>>73292000
I love listening to it, it's beautiful, but he has several albums I'm more enthralled with.
>>73291995
How is it possible to like it? Everything else he's done is better, objectively.
>>73292010
lol nice one xD
>>73292000
honestly I think sufjan's albums only get better as time goes on
What's the best Sufjan Dingins album and why is it Seven Swans?
>it's a le sad acoustic guitar man album
>>73292040
>>73292040
that's just flat out wrong
>>73292089
>it's le smug trivializing green post man.
Saw your post while scrolling and popped in to tell you you're shit.
>>73291901
He is a great composer but half of his songs are about Christmas.
>>73292102
>>73292110
hi brainlets
>>73292129
we're talking about the album in question, not Stevens as a whole
>>73292040
Let me clarify that I don't hate Carrie and Lowell, rather it just comes off as disappointing. It just feels like offhand B-sides to me.
Under the Shadow of the Cross or whatever is a solid track tho.

For low-dopamine, depressed and self-pitying people, it is.
For high-dopamine, optimist and spititually ascending people, AOTD is Currents.
Can you refute this?
>>73292325
>AOTD is from a Beatles copycat band
'no'
>>73292325
>For low-dopamine, depressed and self-pitying people, it is.
Don't forget low testosterone
>>73292207
lol no
>>73292479
not original poster, but avid suf fan and also big fan of planetarium. seeing either hate for it or general indifference though. why don't you or others like it? It's fucking awesome. (This is coming from someone whose favorite album ever is age of adz, but still)

if we're talking 2000- radiohead, it's easily IR
>>73292563
instrumentally, it's suburb, however, sufjan's vocals were kinda boring desu and drag it down it quite a bit
>>73292756
hm, i think the album had some of his strongest vocal performances. Mercury had both a very interesting lyrical structure and some beautiful vocal acrobatics at points. And I felt he showed up really well on songs like Neptune and Moon as well. And I loved the lyricism all over, very rich with all the Roman gods stuff. Then I was a big fan of some of the manipulation, namely in Jupiter and Earth. I get why people are put off by Mars but personally I enjoyed it. Maybe it's impossible for me to be objective as such a sufjan stan but it's interesting that the vocals were what dragged it down for you.
Can someone explain to me why this isn't AOTD?
>>73292877
because arcas mutant easily
>>73292808
I loved Planetarium and I'm huge on Sufjan, but I do feel like the vocals on Planetarium weren't as rich as most of his other material.
