Actress' music can be pretty sketchy formally, especially with this project and even moreso R.I.P. (a lot of songs sounding like sketches or incomplete thoughts, which could very well be intentional in places), but godDAMN if he isn't the most impressive electronic sound designer and creator of synthetic ambience that I've ever heard.
>>73294492
>>73298820
This is Arca's worst project. As he gets further from his first few EPs his own music devolves and his production/collaborations with others improve.
Here's my chart from a few days ago, I would probably add Brockhampton now. To those who gave me recs, I thought Brutopianisti was alright, I thought Taiwan Housing Project was good but not great along with USA/MEXICO, haven't listened to Joshua Abrams yet

honestly BROCKHAMPTON are killing it right now. Although I have to say the second half of the album was pretty undwhelming for me besides Face, Bump and Milk are pretty samey-samey with the flows. I bet over half of this group gets seriously famous though.
Thundercat is weird. Not good. tf man I played a song and wtf.
>>73332886
I've only heard the AnCo album from this list. Anyone else kind of i that boat?
I used to trust /mu/ to offer up good music. I don't trust /mu/ anymore. I've been burned too many times in the last few years by fleetingly popular fads. I pretty much just find stuff on my own anymore, and it almost never liens up with what's going on on this board. Which is kind of annoying because I'd like to talk to people about what I'm listening to, but it's not the latest soundcloud rap and it's not Grimes and it's not Kendrick.
>>73334065
Check the sharethreads mate, not always current music but definitely great for branching out into some new shit
>>73334065
most everything on that list is a notable or popular (and frankly great) release of the year. to not have heard everything but 1 album is kinda just you not enjoying anything because you think anything is a fad or maybe even just a joke? idk maybe you should rethink your approach to new music, because it sounds paranoid and shallow
>>73334065

>>73334232
I'm not unhappy with what I've found and have been listening to from this year (and past) for the last 6 months. I don't think it's a joke either. Most of the time I don't even really think of it, because I'm content. I just wish that I could talk to people about what I've enjoyed that hasn't made the /mu/ cut. Also I've found through trial and error I really don't care for most hip hop. Which is a big deal at the moment. I've heard DAMN probably 3 times through from my roommate listening to it, but I haven't sat down and listened to it myself. Probably won't based on what how I felt about it when he was playing it.
