why is it that so called "patricians" have praised classical and baroque for its artistic value and composition despite many contemporary albums surpassing it from genres such as rock, metal, prog rock etc.?

because it hasn't, it's fundamentally still pop music. novelties dressed up in different facades yet still pop. pop music listeners don't like being challenged on this though because it's an affront to their identity and moreover intelligence
