Even fusion musicians hate fusion. I remember how offended some dudes in a fusion band got when I asked them why they didn't consider their music fusion.

I don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

I genuinely think it it's one of those truly adult genres that kind of assaults your sensibilities with dadness until you get a little older.

Plus, in so many ways it's perhaps furthest on the spectrum from everything that had been deemed cool for the last 30 years.

At this point though - at a stage where really adult contempo and corporate-y atmospherics and chords can actually be appreciated - it's "acceptable" for young people to get into its vibes.

I'm mainly speaking here from the point of view of a demographic that would have previously had an alt / punk taste but now are post-psychedelic again and able to process more styles. Because a lot of hip hop and drum and bass guys obviously appreciated it. More the funkier end than the Chick Corea end though.
