Nah. Everything he did was just straight intuition. There was no cold emotionless, "scientific" planning to it, he was just naturally attuned to writing top class pop songs. He was very much a creative and an artist, his endeavors were sincere but still just naturally crowd pleasing.

He was so good at it that it can sometimes come off as a bit sterile at times, but I don't know how you could listen to something like For No One, Here There And Everywhere, I Will, Blackbird or even Hey Jude and equate what he was excelling at to some kind of "science".
