>Why is this album so good?

>Alice Cooper
there's your answer
Hearing Pretties for You is kind of refreshing because they started getting way too involved as time went on, whereas Pretties has this cast-off feel and charming weirdness that got more strained when they got to like, School's Out. With that said, it'll never be amazing. It's just a rehearsal tape that has bouts of inspiration

This album and the follow up Easy Action are criminally overlooked and underrated.
Even so called Die Hard AC fans won't listen to them. They'd rather hear all the "Sh(l)ock Rock" stuff like I'm 18, School's Out, etc. but I find the first two albums a refreshing change of pace and a breath of fresh air.
There's definitely a Mothers of Invention Meets Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd meets The Doors feel on PFY, while Easy Action goes for a later Mothers feel like the Hot Rats album or Live at The Fillmore East.
These are great albums and anybody who claims to be an Alice Cooper fan should listen to them at least once in their life.
