Ok /mu/ I'm thinking of getting an electric guitar along with an amp, etc. Im thinking about a stratocaster or anything that sounds similar to it. I'll probably just find a used amp, but can anyone reccomend some models?
I'm thinking about a price range of under $500

You can get a used Mexican Fender for about $300. Amps a bit tough though. What type of music do you wanna play? Do you want to gig? Any wiggle room in the budget?

Amp budget is under $200. I'm looking at Pink Floyd, Beatles, Nirvana, Van Halen, etc. Stratocaster seems to be the best fit for this style.

Do you know much about guitars? If you wanna play those artists I'd recommend getting an hss or hsh strat. Do you plan on giging with your amp or just playing in your bedroom?

Already have 2 years of experience with acoustic, although i dont have much experience with electric.

Gotcha. I'd go with a used HSS Mexican Fender Strat. Try the guitarcenter website's used gear section. The amp depends on if you just want to play in your house or if you want to play in a band.

Probably looking to play at my house in the basement or something.

Then I'd get a used Vox AC4, but you should listen to youtube demos first and ask any guitar playing friends you have

Ok thx man. I didn't know anyone on 4chan could actually be useful

No problem dude
Invest in some D'addario NYXL strings, the tuning stability is insane. The strings sound great, and they can really take some abuse. (I play really hard shhhh...)
For an amp, I use a Fender Mustang 2 v2, with 27 customizable presets, and you can get a foot switch to change between whatever 2 you want. It also comes in different modes to fit price ranges and purposes. Check 'em out
As there's already a thread about it, I've always wanted to kind of get into guitars. Are there any major problems with buying old used guitars off ebay and the likes?

It's finding one that's not junk. Same issue with guitar centers website. You need a more knowledgeable person to guide you a bit
>>73237125
Definitely go with real brands
>>73237165
Yeah I'm in no rush anyway, its more of a thing maybe a couple of years down the line. You're right, I don't really know much at all, anything important you can tell just by looking at pictures?
>>73237188
I don't think I would ever be satisfied unless I got a talbo, so I shouldn't have to worry so much about that.

A lot, but the main issue is guitars with the same brand but huge gaps in quality. For example, a Squier Classic Vibe Strat is really good and almost as good as a Mexican Fender, but a Squier Affinity Strat is a piece of shit. If you get closer to buying something just make a thread about it.

I agree with everything said here. Make a thread when you're seriously considering a specific axe
