do you think quorthon's so-far unreleased material will ever see the light of day? I had heard he had several albums completely finished as well as a ton of other loose tracks that spanned his career.
>>
>>73165804
It'll be three unremarkable thrash albums made in the mid 2000s, one viking album that would be good if the production wasn't riddled with midi-tier keyboards and five buttrock albums from his failed side projects

I wish Gylve did this more often, or programmed a 24/7 webstation, not just metal.

Also I only just realised that today is the anniversary of Quorthon's death. Thirteen years today. I haven't listened to Bathory in almost seven years, gonna change that.

i know he listens to a lot of electronic/house stuff too, but other than that i haven't the foggiest what his habits are. maybe i ought to email him. he seems pretty accessible provided you don't act like an idiot.

also i kind of just gravitated away from that kind of music i guess,. got into blut aus nord, lunar aurora, etc, and the more blackened melodeath swedish stuff, and then when Amesoeurs got big i went along with that until it petered out and became really trendy.
just comes down to shifting tastes i guess.

was thinking blood on ice since that was the first f/l i heard of his.

Nice, I need to listen to through Nordland albums again, shame we never got the rest.
>>
>>73167523
I was peripherally aware of Neptune Towers but I never heard the material. I'll check it out.

Have you heard his doom metal as Red Planet? I think he only did a few tracks, but it's really decent. The only stuff I've been able to find is released on a split with Nattefrost.

I had heard Quorthon was in the finishing stages of Nordland III, but according to his dad they'll never release any of the archived material.
>>
>>73167558
I've heard Isengard, NP and Storm, Red Planet included. From what little material I heard, it seemed good, would be interested for Fenriz to make something different again, but doubt his willing to.

It's probably better that way.

When I look into your eyes
I can see the power lies
In your heart and is true
This song is for you

You can feel it in your blood
it is pumping through your veins
You can feel it in your heart
As the pounding begins

It is burning deep inside so let it out

As the drums begin to pound
Bass is rumbling the ground
guitars roaring through the night
Heavy Metal, Power, Might!

As I walk on to the stage
I can feel my heart ablaze
As the power soars through me

>what is this oxymoron
I mean, I used to think this too, and not just with nu-metal but also with post-metal and groove metal. For a long time I thought I'd never find good albums from any of these genres but it turned out I was wrong. I like to believe that all genres contain something that I enjoy listening to and I'll do my best to find those bands and albums. A big part of why I enjoy listening to music so much is finding new stuff and broadening my taste. I doubt I'll ever actually be a fan nu-metal or groove metal in general but at least both genres have SOMETHING that I like, and that's good enough for me.

Related to this: I still haven't found any truly good djent so any recs would be appreciated.

If you don't like Meshuggah 1998-2002 then you won't find any good djent because it simply doesn't appeal to you. Literally every other djent out there sounds exactly like that, except with the occasional faggy vocals. Also pic related is basically an appendix to Meshuggah

Kayo Dot and Boris have an incredibly varied discography, I don't know if I would call any full album post metal but they were listed on wikipedia as post metal and I think they definitely have some post metal songs in their disog that are great songs. True though that Iprobably wouldn't say I like any post metal if all I liked were those songs.

Literally what? /mu/ doesn't even listen to jazz, and you can see that just by looking at all those /mu/core charts. They're like 70% some type of rock (usually art, experimental or post-rock), 10% memerap, 15% some selected pop singers and 5% something else. On top of that, /jazz/ threads never reach bump limit.

>>73171642
>Implying entry level can't be good

>>73171593
For me it blew NGR out of the water, honestly. Though I wouldn't compare the two all that much, since NGR was a pretty straightforward and traditional BM album whereas the new one takes more chances and goes in some directions in which the band hasn't really gone before.
The new album feels a return to the very rotten and very primitive sound and feel of albums like Deliverers Of Faith and Church Of Atrocity but like I said, with more experimentation.
>>

Heavy means slow and crushing. It's what made the genre what it is, and why doom was the first subgenre. Heavy, slow, crushing playing and riffs is what separated early heavy metal from mere hard rock.

So I guess some fucking funeral doom band is the heaviest. Drone doesn't count because to be slow and crushing you actually require a tempo.

Happy now? Me neither.
