>john comes up with a day in the life and gets all the credit anyway

I never saw it as a "John" album, but okay.
>>
>>73133436
maybe because it's the best and most memorable song and Paul just wrote popvomit
>>
>>73133436

I think even the most John-loving fan of the Beatles has to admit that Sgt. Pepper's was like 80% Paul's work desu
>>
>>73134052
>Sgt. Pepper's was like 80% Paul's work desu
no wonder it's their worst album
>>
>>73133436
remind me who's alive to enjoy the 50th anniversary of its release tho
>>
>>73133436
It's the best song though, that and strawberry fields forever are the pinnacle Of The Beatles.
>>
>>73133732
>popvomit
grannyshit*
>>
>>73133732
If I'm judging the Bealtes on their lyrical content, then John falls almost as flat as Paul. Like what, is "give peace a chance" really that much better a message than "there once was a person who did some things"?

The Beatles are still revered today for their melodies, their craftsmanship, their pioneering of high-concept rock/pop music, and their crazy studio work.

And that was all Paul. Paul was the best pop craftsman a studio magician in a band famous for pop craftsmanship and studio magic. John was the deepest lyricist in a band with pretty shitty lyrics.

Nah.
>>
>>73134439
I Am the Walrus and A Day in the Life have unironically fantastic lyrics
>>
>>73133436
Within You Without you is the best track. When will plebs realize it?
>>
>>73135935
So much this. I love WYWY. By OP's logic, George stole the show.
Besides, A Day in the Life's two sections were by Paul iirc, John came up with verses and George Martin with orchestra section, seems like a collective effort than John's baby.
Lucy might be the real John's trump card on Pepper, but then again, Paul came up with the intro, which I find the best part of the song. So yeah, Paul's contributions are all over Pepper.
>>
>>73134643
I thought it was ok.
>>
>>73133436
A day in the life is the best beatles song by a long shot.
>>
What Beatles album should I listen first, /mu/? I'm into The Doors if that says anything
>>
>>73137055
start w/ all of them.
>>
>>73137055
First to last, live the full experience. While you're listening to them, read some bibliography or some shit about the evolution and changes of their music.
>>
>>73137055
Play the story mode on The Beatles Rock Band

You can just do it chronologically but their best work doesn't start cropping up until later

All he did was rip off Brian Wilson anyway.

archive link for the new 2017 sgt pepper remaster is not working, anyone got one?
>>
It's Paul's album, Paul was the beatles leader, John was a wife beating hack who only wrote certain parts in songs but took all the credit
>>
>>73138155
lmao what the fuck are you talking about
you are aware that Zappa copied the Sgt Pepper album cover, right?
>>
>>73133436
for real George Harrison is the only beatle that didn't deserve to die
>>
>>73134284
ringo?
>>
Poor Ringo, tossed to the curb like a bag of garbage.

Octopus's Garden is a gem of a song.
>>
This album basically proves that Faul is much more talented that Paul
>>
For me I enjoy the dog whistle on the mono version of A Day In The Life.
>>
>>73134439
This. well put
>>
>>73138693
What do you mean Ringo is "Tossed to the curb"?

Do you not like the song With A Little Help From My Friends?

That's one of the best songs on the album. (That plus the mono version of Getting Better)

>>
>>73134439
the standout beatles songs are always johns though
>>
>>73133436
The only reason why A Day in the Life is so legendary is because of the middle section that Paul wrote. Paul's part is literally THE best part of a Lennon song desu.

Not dissing Frank, just calling you stupid for implying he's more influential than the Beatles
>>
>>73137055
Start with The White Album. The album that inspired Charles Manson is the closest you're going to get to The Doors.
>>
>>73138693
Octopus's Garden is a perfect litmus test for snobbishness, IMO. I mean you don't need to love it, but anyone who actively dislikes it is a wanker.

Is it worth it over my 2009 mono remaster.
>>
>>73133436
>john comes up with a day in the life and gets all the credit anyway

but aditl was like the zenith of lennon/mccartney's collaboration, not just a "john song"
>>
>>73142904
Don't they release a new "digitally remastered", "super deluxe", "remixed", "for reals, this is the definitive version" of this fucking album every five years?
>>
>>73134439
Why do Redditors refuse to give John any credit? George Harrison and John Lennon were incredible artists, and they were responsible for a lot of the band's innovations. Paul couldn't ever move out of his saccarine show tune pop safe zone and we could see that very clearly in wings.
Abbey Road fucking sucked because Paul made himself the top priority of the band. Paul's great, but he's nothing without George and John.
>>
>>73134052
lucy in the sky
mr.kite
a day in the life

these are the best 3 songs on pepper. paul was doing his fucking granny shit most songs.

lets also not forget that how badly lennon kicked pauls ass in mmt which was around this time
>>
>>73140149
I can think of plenty standouts that aren't John's though.

Elanor Rigby
Taxman
Get You Into My LIfe
Something
Hey Jude
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Back in the USSR
Blackbird
Helter Skelter
Here Comes the Sun
Golden Slumbers into Carry that Weight into The End
Hello Goodbye
Here There and Everywhere

The notion that John wrote all the standout songs is ridiculous
>>
>>73140779
nobody thinks this
>>
>>73143585
This 100%
>>
>>73143669
go on any mu thread where op asks

"Hey gang whats your favorite beatles song?"

85% of the songs posted are johns
>>
>>73133436
BANG BANG MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER
>>
>>73134643
It's cute
>>
>>73139979
This will forever be my favorite Onion article, mostly because it's basically a legitimate story.
>>
>>73143730
because people are going to post the number one top hits and since john just wrote bullshit pop songs for the majority of his career those are the ones people are most likely to latch on to
>>
>>73140779
>meanwhile in bizzaro /mu/
>>
>not posting she's leaving home
wtf
>>
>>73143870
Paul had the most number ones, though.
>>
>>73143928
that's why he's the best. nobody's heard johns songs because they suck.
>>
>>73142159
well that's too far
>>
>>73134439
Hwaig and aitl transcend this lyrically
