U2 in their prime. ZOOTV to be exact.
>>
>>73087422
U2 capitalized on cliches that expand the size of sound emotionally or acoustically without really probing those depths in ways non-superficial.

>>73087422
Scott?
>>
>>73087594
You should review music. This sounds like something Scaruffi would say.

I will leave my humble pleb opinion here.
AC/DC not even in their prime.

How the fuck did he jump that high.
>>
>>73087708
AC/DC might be dad-rock but they're the best kind of dad-rock
>>

he's not jumping, he's flying

This is just wrong

RHCP '89 with based 19 year old Frusciante
>>
>>73087948
RHCP is such a "band" band. I don't mean that appreciatively. Hell, their crazy Japanese equivalent is more fun and off the wall

Lmao
Low energy sad!

>>73087948
How does Kiedis manage to singlehandedly ruin the band
It's impressive how much he brings it down
>>

the lead singer had to get throat surgery and the band had to haitus because of how intensely he screamed at live shows

>T.A.M.I. Show is particularly well known for James Brown's performance, which features his legendary dance moves and explosive energy. In interviews, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones has claimed that choosing to follow Brown and The Famous Flames was the biggest mistake of their careers, because no matter how well they performed, they could not top him
>>
>>73087594
I dig what you're saying, but I still quite enjoy their 80s-90s material regardless. They do capitalize the fuck out of those cliches excellently, and those are some great cliches to capitalize on if they must.

>>
>>73088292
Hey, if you dig something "regardless" then please ignore whatever people say. I'm not being facetious. It's good to enjoy things.

imagining what their songs would sound like with a multitude of other singers is tragic
i mean i've heard some genuinely good performances from him but most of the time and compared to his bandmates ugh
>>
>>73088329
I know, what I meant was that I recognize and agree what you're saying is technically true but I still think it's good and worthwhile music regardless. Not because I'm worried about your opinion but because I agree and still think they're good.

His lyrics are like picking out a hat. As well as the emotional content he invests into it. That ain't right, if you ask me.

The Who were really spectacular but I would say that Fugazi, Nirvana, and At the Drive In are all bands that took The Who's energetic stage performance ideas to a whole other level

Why do people brandish their flag in concerts? Are they autistic? I mean why would they want to block other people's view of the performance.
>>
>>73087184
Are we talking musical talents visual merits or both?

Now it's a true fact that before Tommy quite a few people feared for their personal safety and even their lives during a Who concert and even compared it to a scary roller coaster ride i.e. meaning that it was scary at the time but they want to go on that ride again.

While people may not have feared for their lives at the following bands their music and high energy performances were just as exciting and exhilarating ............

Kiss
Alice Cooper
Iggy and The Stooges
The Doors
Arthur Brown
Jimi Hendrix

And keep in mind that Jimi Hendrix and The Who almost got into a literal fist fight at The Monterrey Pop music festival back in 1967 because one didn't want to follow the other.
>>
>>73092137
No m8, maybe with the exception of MC5, none have the same raw energy of the Who
>>
>>73092126
this was just embarrassing poser shit

>judging bands live perfomances which you've never seen live

>Not listening to their live output
????
>>
>>73092495
but listening or even watching a recorded show isn't the same as seeing it live

anyways, is the woodstock movie by scorsese good? I didn't watch it yet because it's like 9 hours long
>>
>>73092525
I would've been better if.....
A)Pete actually smashed his guitar at the end of The Who's set

B) If they showed Pete Townsend actually pushing Abbie Hoffman off the stage after Pinball Wizard.

Other than that stick to The Kids Are Alright if you REALLY want to see The Who at their best!
>>
>>73092525
If its just for the Who, then no. Watch The Kids are Alright documentary or The Isle of Wight which has them really at their height of live performance

Too bad she was outshone by the Who and Hendrix
>>
>>73092626
That's not the general consensus.
Mine either, I'll have to pull out the disc and watch it again, Ravi's performance is more memorable than Who?
>>
>>73092603
Forgot about The Isle of Wight. I haven't watched that in years but only because I have an old VHS copy. Good recommendation.

>>73092604
Mama Cass was certainly blown away at Big Brother's performance. Just take a good look at her face! M-I-N-D B-L-O-W-N!!

>>73092626
To bad Otis Redding basically mopped the floor with all three and he didn't need any gimmick to get the audience on his side.

Try telling me that Try a Little Tenderness didn't steal the show! Pro tip: You literally CAN'T!
>>
>>73092671
>>73092663
Fuck I guess your right, theres just so many good performances there
>>

This is the objectively correct answer. God bless DEP.
>>
>>73088056
why does everyone hate kiedis? He may not be the worlds best singer but it definitely fits there sound

IDK, can't say I understand why. He comes across a little douchey at times but that's just the Cali boy in him.
