I thought so too. It's because the black on the right part of the object he is holding matches the background so it looks like space rather than part of that object.

Their second is pure experimentation while TVU is pure pop songwriting. They showcase the two sides of the band really well, and it retains some of the attitude before they went full on pop rock with Loaded.
