How do people who know shit tons about music/ listen to it all

I listen to familiar music when I'm driving. If I'm listening to something new, yeah I just put it on and listen, giving it my complete attention. How else are you supposed to really truly appreciate something?

i browse /mu/ while listening to music. I also do the staring at walls thing and try to get into a meditave state (i know it sounds pretentious but it helps me focus on the music more). Sometimes play games but i have to play more mindless games that are good for listening to. Oh yeah and pacing around the house while listening to more upbeat music.

Almost all day everyday, while I'm in the crapper, cooking, cleaning , working out, whatever . Only exceptions are when I'm watching some of the few shows I like

I listen to music all day long but it's the best when i put it on, grab some coffee and just stare at the walls or look outside. i try to visualize the music in my head, like abstract movements and different colors. you can create really cool scenes once you get good at it, makes you perceive music differently too.

Then i listen to music on the go or just while im doing shit. But the first time around i usually do the couch thing. I just really enjoy payin attention to it

I do most of my listening while I ride my bicycle, either commuting or on a long recreational ride. Of course this isn't optimal because I wear earphones, so I also listen to a couple of albums before I go to bed, or right when I wake up, with my nice headphones.
