Awesome awesome shows, very heavy. Prepare to listen to Zach Hill shred on the drums for like an hour straight. Very sweaty and stinky venues though

I saw them in a really small venue. Entire show (like 60 minutes) it was just non-stop agressive moshing. I never liked moshing so I stood in the front row because I still wanted to experience DG from up close. Had to hold the railing the entire fucking time otherwise I would drown in the moshpit. I can't remember during which song it was but the crowd went so fucking crazy that I bruised like 2-3 ribs. Worth it though. MC Ride rained on me with his sweat, delicious. Saw a guy bleeding from his head and his t-shirt was ripped to shreds.

If you don't like moshing stay at sides, back or front (if you don't mind holding on to railing the entire time).

But their shows have really great energy, it's worth going.
>>
Depends on what you want. A friend survived in the first row with pleateau shoes (don't ask me how she got that idea), just got bitten once.
I tried to stay in the front middle and, hell yeah, that was a fucking hellride.

People just sprinting through the hall, seemingly letting out all their repressed anger, everyone completely covered in sweat... I don't want to come off as cheesy, but it actually felt kind of spiritual idk.

Anyway, if you need a break you can go to the sides of the concert hall, it's relatively relaxed there.
But I strongly advice to go all in, otherwise you will regret not having done it. No drug trip came close to this concert for me.

drink lots of water and be prepared for 2 hours of nonstop noid. Last time i saw him he didn't speak to the crowd during set once. just one song right into the next, literally no breaks and no pauses
>>
>>72971075
they haven't done that in years
>>
I went to their DC show last time and managed to get to the very front towards the right. I thought I lucked out until some guy in a wheelchair got wheeled in right next to me. I spent the whole show white-knuckle gripping the railing as the crowd thrashed back and forth to keep myself from toppling over onto him and taking the crowd with me. I couldn't dance or do fuck-all except protect this guy. At first I thought I was at least doing my part to help out a crippled DG fan, but this guy didn't give a fuck about the show at all, he just gets front row at concerts because he's crippled. I looked over at one point during the set and saw him looking up Kid Rock trivia on his phone. I ended up with an enormous bruise up and down my right leg from where I was pinned against his wheelchair.

Bring earplugs. For real. I started out without them and at the beginning of Why a Bitch Gotta Lie he shrieked so fucking loud my vision blurred and I'm pretty sure it made me a little retarded.
>>
Stay hydrated, watch out for big fat sweaty autists getting their pent up aggression out in the mosh pit.
>>
I was very fortunate to catch death grips at a small venue with little to no security. The only security guards there were standing up on stage near the speakers, so there was no space between ride and the crowd. It was super surreal. Here's some footy I captured https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aP54bB3SoCw

some dude also got some really good up close footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2xFnorlBoQ

For some advice, have fun, know basic mosh etiquette (don't swing elbows, help people who fall, etc.) And if you don't mosh but catch yourself near the edge of it, just hold an arm out while you reposition yourself somewhere else. Only do this if there is enough space between people. You do not want to stick your arm out if you are crushed in the crowd. That is an easy way to break an arm. Earplugs are a must. And to be honest, I didn't even use them until they went into Turned Off, but I'm glad I had them for that point. When the distorted fuzz comes in at 0:50 It was damn near the loudest noise I had ever heard at a concert.

God, there was so much flesh

side story

Not the guy, but you must be retarded. I have attended more concerts than you can count and got permanent tinnitus after a Mayhem show. Sometimes you can hear better with ear plugs because it cancels out the distortion.

When I saw DG it was a very active crowd. the pit was constantly swirling with people and even a few crowd surfers. it was louder than most concerts and sounded very distorted up front. when i put ear plugs in it sounded much better and i could actually make out what the fuck was going on in the song.

crowd was crazy, but met a lot of cool people. overall a good crowd.

I don't usually go to concerts with earplugs, but for DG I wish I did and I would 1000% recommend it.
