I mean you're right that digging is good but ragging on people for not knowing music that is obscure even to communities that like obscure music feels kind of haughty.

I'm looking at a list of experimental hip-hop on RYM and only clicking the stuff I've never heard of even in passing, a lot of this is albums with less than 100 ratings and I mean sure, there's probably some hidden gems but how do you discover something like that without someone else mentioning it or like randomly clicking interesting sounding titles on Youtube suggestions?

I'm open to learning more experimental hip-hop but there really is a reason why completely out of nowhere releases don't tend to come up in these discussion.
