I know what Kanye's next project will be.
The retreat from social life onto a mountain is obviously a marketing stunt, and I'm willing to bet the album is close to done already. But the fact that he chose this particular marketing stunt already tells you a lot about what he might have in store.
Kanye's long-lasting career is built on him trying his hardest to stay relevant in the mainstream, and his formula for doing so is essentially: picking up on trends, and picking a unique feel or gimmick for each album to make it stand out. In other words, unless he's desperate and out of ideas, he won't remake the same album twice; he has already dabbled in trap, industrial hip-hop and pop rap, and has released and 'artsy' album. Plus, those genres don't fit with the image he is trying to convey for his next record. On the other hand, conscious hip-hop is in right now, and is fitting for a lately more serious, moody Kanye.
My guess is Kanye's next album is going to be darker and have a more serious edge to it. It might focus on personal issues, like deconstructing the persona he has been building up over the years. And in case he's actually serious about candidating in 2020, he's probably going to shill for it and throw in a few social issues for good measure.
