What's the best artist your country has every produced? Include things like total album sales, their influence on music, and how well they are remembered.
America's best is probably Elvis, or maybe Louis Armstrong.
Britain is also super easy, The Beatles are undeniably the best thing to ever come out of the UK.
What about France? Germany? Spain? Poland? Brazil? Canada?
No American band comes close to them.

So, if Aliens looked at the US, and tried to find our best music, you think they'd zoom onto the Beach Boys?

I hate how the word 'artist' has totally lost it's meaning. Ten years ago people just called these pop stars 'singers' or 'performers'. I think it's since the start of these awful shows like 'The Voice' and popstars using the word people have started calling them 'artists' I'm sorry but Elvis wasn't an artist. He was a singer, a performer. He is also completely overrated. It's just so embedded into people's minds how he's the 'king' but he's really no different from Justin Bieber or any other pop star to be honest.

A lot of iconic artists have been Welsh, it's not my country but I think it's pretty cool.

Anon, were talking about globally. Nation wide. Sure, your hipster band may be good, but they obviously aren't good enough to be recognizable by literally everyone.

Probably Rush for Canada. I don't know if any other artist really made as much of a influence

>Justin Bieber
probably this

Neil Young's definitely had a much larger influence

Not him, but again, your fallback argument is just popularity. If you think that's the only thing that matters when trying to judge a quality of the band, you won't get many genuine answers. As you already didn't - The Beach Boys, The Beatles.
