Their first 2 albums feature a shit load of effects and a dreamy atmosphere, sometihng grunge doesn't aim for. The production in Siamese Dream was Corgan trying to channel Loveless's production.

The only thing "grunge" about SP are Corgan's lyrics, only because of the angst.

Melvins were integral to the Seattle scene. They were on all the early grunge comps.
The distorted, muddy sound of Melvins was a massive influence on every grunge band in Seattle, and they are all very open about that.
