England never had a punk movement, even the Sex Pistols were just a marketing gimmick for Mclaren to sell his silly little clothes.

Punks in America were actually in it for the music and the politics, hence the development of Hardcore, No-Wave, etc.

That said, the Pogues were pretty good

I like both bands and I'm not saying that everything the Clash did was great (or that there's anything wrong with the Ramones' simple sound) but you sound like you've only listened to one song by the Clash. Listen to London Calling or Sandinista (or don't, and go jump off a cliff you whiny little cunt)
