>"Newsom is a classically trained harpist and singer who made a very good 2004 record, but this EP is hard to stomach: Five tracks, four of them more than nine minutes and one ("Only Skin") sixteen-plus, with meandering strings-and-things accompaniment and indulgent vocal quirks that make Bjork sound like Kelly Clarkson."
Someone in Rolling Stone gets paid to write this
You can't say it's inaccurate.

Will do, might even go shove a fire hydrant wrapped in sand paper up my ass while I'm at it, would still be better than having to listen to that horrible voice anytime soon
>>72895163
>make Bjork sound like Kelly Clarkson
what the fuck is that supposed to mean
>>72895752
i know, it's a stupid comparison
bjork does tend to use her voice in an unconventional way occasionally but when she does it's a far cry from self indulgent and fits the intended purpose, she actually has a very stereotypical beautiful voice
whereas kelly clarkson also can certainly sing but is prone to plenty of self indulgence and really has no idea how to sing probably due to being plucked out of nowhere by american idol and immediately shoved into a studio with a bunch of garbage producers whos only value is knowing how to make a hit
joanna's vocal "quirks" come from her love of traditional american music and blues singers like karen dalton, texas gladden, jean ritchie, ect. but of course rolling stone couldn't give half a fuck about any of this
