Probably Pete tbvh. When I was eight, I heard "Don't look Back into the Sun" for the first time, and just like that I had my first ever favourite band. Within three years, I had every Libs and Babyshambles CD, and that made up like 80% of my music listening. At this point, Im more into Hip Hop, and rarely listen to them anymore, but I still consider seeing The Libertines live at Reading in 2015 one of the greatest moments of my life. If Pete died, I'd be destroyed.

I know you brought up suicide as an exemption to this rule, but Chris Cornell hit me really hard. I didn't think any celebrity death would hit me hard because I don't know them personally, but I guess you really underestimate how much of an emotional attachment you have to certain influences in your life.

So sure, some may die of old age after a period of relative obscurity, but when it happens a lot of people will remember when that artist was a big influence or a cultural landmark that defined a whole era for them and have an emotional attachment, if not to that artist in particular then at least to the time period that they represented.

Although I will say there's way too many fucking posers that just crocodile it up for the attention.
