I still maintain we have a more interesting chart than America, and we have had some definite outsider tunes do well in the chart (Laurie Anderson's O Superman got to number 2, Killing in the Name was Christmas number 1 in 2009) but we've also had a lot of saccharine shite that you'd be amazed anyone bought. Just pick a random UK number 1 from a list and it could be a definite classic, or it could just as likely (if not more so) be something like Shaddap You Face (that beat Vienna by Ultravox to number 1 btw)
