Absolutely love that album, and you picked the best song, too.
I don't know a lot of similar albums unfortunately.

Comus is great, don't know those other two however. Where's that track come from? I have First Utterance but never heard this.
I guess my other recs would be...
Incredible String Band
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u52QRVKX0PY
Vashti Bunyan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po8OTXXDwi0
Sibylle Baier
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyy8bEDi1Eg
and Espers of course
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TArPsHYj5Yc
But you're right very few other folk bands have that jammy quality you hear in Trees it almost sounds like the Dead at times. Very curious to see what else is out there
>>72794462
Oh fuck yeah this is one of my all time faves. That fucking keyboard melody in the background hhnnnnnn
>>72794295
>>72794375
can we get some comus-core recs pls?
>>72794701
OK so this is psych rock not folk, but I get that same unhinged feeling here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6yda2KE59w
But really there's only one Comus

It's on my version of First Utterance, I guess it's a bonus track from a reissue or something.

Hmm that Sybille Baier track is good.

Oh yeah I want to see them so badly but they've never come to my neck of the woods. The Weed Tree and Espers 1+2 are so good b ut after that they kinda dropped off imo. Would so fucking epic live uuuuughhh
>>72794375
The Liege and Lief track is fuckin great too damn I hope traditional / psych folk sees some kinda resurgence, lyrics that convey a narrative like this are so much more captivating to me than unintelligible psych dribble you hear all over. Like %90 of the psych out there right now is from metal bands I think theres a great opportunity for folk to expand right now in the same way. Seems like folk has been stagnant the past decade, definitely gotten poppier with "indie" music, bon iver etc.

>>72797245
BIG BLOOD THATS IT. I lost a bunch of music when I lost my old computer (everything I hadn't gotten off of what.cd) and couldn't remember their name for the life of me. Spooky stuff
>>72797267
