General Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds-thread
>>72789267
Nice rare Nick, mate
If they could mix their soft sound into aggressive it would be dope af
>>72789267
By the way, have you listened to Gudrun Gut? She's awesome. She has made a collab with Blixa, 'Die Sonne'
>>72789320
I haven't listened to any of her stuff to completion but I have listened to that song, its pretty neato
If you had to choose one of the Bad Seeds album, which would be your favourite?
>>72789386
The Good Son or Tender Prey or Let Love in, hard decision
I like it rough but Skeleton Tree was a nice surprise, Push the Sky Away was a slight disappointment, idk why. It felt slightly wishy-washy
I'm huge faggot for Blixa, not so much for Nick. He's cool but not as fascinating and mysterious as Blixa. Both are charismatic but IMHO Blixa is prettier than Nick
What's yours favourite NC&TBS album? And Neubauten album?
>>72789432
From Her to Eternity, Let Love In and Henry's Dream, the rankings change all the time. I wasn't huge on PTSA for ages too until recently, it really just clicked with me in the last 2 weeks, some of Nick's best lyrics imo
Im the opposite actually, as much as I adore Blixa Nick's brooding lyrics coupled with his really snide, dry Australian humour really endears himself to me. I feel Nick and Blixa's relationship really birthed some fantastic music tho, they really complimented eachother
In terms of EN, my favourites would either be Halber Mensch or Ende Neu
>>72789432
Also are you a fan of The Birthday Party/Rowland S. Howard's stuff?
>>72789509
Henry's Dream is epic too.
Ende Neu is one of my favourite also. I played Was Ist Ist at high school's morning assembly.
>I feel Nick and Blixa's relationship really birthed some fantastic music tho, the
I call it bromance! Their relationship is so cute.
>>72789529
I listen a bit Rowland, Teenage Snuff Film is amazing. I haven't got into The Birthday Party yet
>>72789509
Also, what do you think about Blixa's guitar playing? I think it's genius and unique, probably technically not best but fits into the bands style.
Have you seen this? https://youtu.be/qriE6ZybnEI?t=7m47s it's hilarious
Have you seen NC live?
>>72789681
John Finn's Wife is one of the Bad Seeds most underrated songs, so dramatic
> I played Was Ist Ist at high school's morning assembly.
That sounds rad
> I haven't got into The Birthday Party yet
I highly recommend Junkyard. It is fantastic
>>72789770
>Have you seen NC live?
Almost, they were in Flow Festival when I was underage. Didn't get due to that :(
I've seen Blixa twice, though
>John Finn's Wife is one of the Bad Seeds most underrated songs
It's very good song, I should listen more lyrics but I always forget. I'm not a native english speaker so it's a bit tricky
>I highly recommend Junkyard. It is fantastic
I'll order it from a library
Are you into Blixa's collaborations? ANBB and stuff with Teho are so good. It seems like Blixa has chemistry with everyone he works with
>>72789755
I fucking adore his play style, the atmosphere he creates can be so intense and cold. I love it. He isn't an amazing guitarist technically but he really knows how to compliment a song with his playing
I haven't seen that before, it was fantastic haha did the card guy just shit himself?
>>72789812
If you have an opportunity I highly recommend it, it was the best show I've been to. When he climbed into the crowd he screamed From Her to Eternity like a foot from my face
>I'm not a native english speaker
Man, Nick's lyrics can be pretty dense, I can see it being challenging for someone who isn't a native speaker
Are you into Blixa's collaborations?
I haven't listened to much outside of EN, is there anything you recommend?
>>72789942
Nick said that Blixa played the guitar at 'Christina the Astonishing' the way he always wanted it to be. Too bad I don't reckon the play from the whole song :D
He plays it right-handed even though he's left-handed and took only slightly guitar lessons when he was young! Amazing talent
>did the card guy just shit himself?
Yes lmao. I'm not sure if it's in that video but soon after his fail he throws his stuff away and walks from the stage
>>72789971
Here's good stuff on Teho collaboration. Really fascinating atmosphere, Teho is so underrated artist

>If you have an opportunity I highly recommend it, it was the best show I've been to
When I'm living alone and I have money I should go to some other country to his gig. I've been twice abroad to listen my favs: Blixa and Lou Reed
>>72790010
Cheers Ill give that stuff a look
Damn, I would've loved to have seen Lou Reed
Also in case you're interested, here's my highly biased Bad Seed ratings
>>72790074
>Nocturama
>5
You're close to my opinion but I think it's worse
>Damn, I would've loved to have seen Lou Reed
It was my longtime dream. I saw him in Copenhagen. I was 17 and nobody said anything even if there was beer to be sold :D
It'd be cool to go to Copenhagen again to see Neubauten but I live at home (doesn't let me go alone abroad) and I don't have money
Have you heard Lament? If you did, do you like it?
>>72790139
Nocturama is the only BS album that isn't fantastic in my eyes
I listened to Lament only once like a year ago. I really should relisten to it. I remember thinking it was pretty good but its hazy. What'd you think of it?
>>72790185
I have mixed feelings on it. It certainly is not a typical Neubauten album, especially as it's a commission album. Shows how famous Neubauten is in its own way. It didn't clicked on me instantly but it's ok. That and Perpetuum Mobil are the weakest points on Neubauten's discography but they ain't bad, 5-7/10
What is your favourite Neubauten-era? I recognize three eras on them: 80's punk (Stahlmusik, Kollaps,Halber Mensch) , 90's a bit softer (Haus Der Lüge, Tabula Rasa) and 2000's soft stuff (Silence is Sexy, The Jewels, Ende Neu). My favourite is 90's and 2000's, 90's is very catchy too but mostly German language
>>72790252
>90's is very catchy too but mostly German language
I meant 80's
>>72790252
Probably the 80s punk era. Its just so intense and visceral, I love it
Im gonna redownload Lament, its been a while
>>72790350
It's amazing how they managed to have so catchy tunes in middle of the noiseish punk. Like Kalte Sterne, Styropor and Negativ Nein
