what's your local music scene like, /mu/?
I live in Long island in NY, it's pretty lame, mostly generic dad rock tribute bands, metal bands and SoundCloud rappers. the scene is much better in Brooklyn but that's not really local.

it's alright where I'm at
I'm on long island too. I agree, the music here is shit. If you're not into emo or hardcore there's not really anything for you out here. I don't mind driving out to Brooklyn for shows.

Northern Colorado has a pretty decent folk scene.
Chicago
It's pretty tight though not what it used to be. Everyone on the north side and their grandma is in a lo-fi rock back.

I went to one of the LCD Soundsystem shows at Brooklyn Steel, Screaming Females 2 weeks ago, and Pharmakon the week before that. I haven't gone into Manhattan for a show in a few months.
DIY scene in Columbia, MO has a few solid bands. It's a college town so there's a variety of bands springing up
My cities scene seems really healthy at the moment. It's nice seeing familiar faces when you go out to places. Heaps of bands and venues currently active. The spread of genres doesn't seem to bad. Unfortunately a record label did shut down the other week but I don't think that spells the end of anything.
From NYC but go to school in Long Island
Some cool bands come out to play here but more often than not we have to pull from Brooklyn/Bronx/Manhattan rather than on the island itself

victoria bc is decent for its size but most good local bands fuck off to vancouver as soon as they get a chance. fucking ferry costs
There's nothing but shitty rappers (smallish town in SW Michigan).
