Nope. I've listened to it dozens of times. It is my least favorite because I don't know... there's something off about that album. She says she had to make it quickly and I get a sense of that sometimes. Not that she could produce a great album quickly, just that it didn't have the vibe of the other 3. Even Darkblooms had a fantastic feel to it. I was listening to that last night and D'Eon is fuckin' great too!

I used to think Geidi was a little too much out there for me. But i've quickly warmed up to it now and I think it's a much stronger album because it's experimental, off the cuff and more driven by feel IMO.

Halfaxa continues to be my favorite. Just has a better vibe. But then again it really depends on the feel you're wanting at the moment. Up beat and happy you'll want Art Angels. Dark and dramatic is Halfaxa. visions is a bit of a mixed bag to me. Seems to contrast strangely between the darkness of Halfaxa and the strangeness of Geidi to something overly poppy like Art Angels.

They're all good though. But yeah, visions is my least favorite.

Even if Visions was rushed it doesn't really matter; its songs are older than the recording date. Its highlights are the best of her career: Oblivion, Genesis, Be a Body, Circumambient, Skin, Symphonia IX, Nightmusic, Vowels = Space and Time, Colour of Moonlight, Know the Way. It can't get better than that.

Hopefully one day this album will grow on you.

I doubt it. No PR person would want to risk his/her career by posting on this shithole. There are at least 10 Grimes fans that post threads regularily. It takes just a few seconds to open a thread, it's easy. They simply CTRL F "grimes"and if they don't find one, open one.

The thing with Grimes is that she's a very interesting character besides her awesome music. She has a cool backstory, lots of pictures (a good thing for an image board) and lots of small events (e.g. Instagram posts). She has a real star power and she's very charismatic.

The way I see it - Visions is undeniably a great album. However it lacks, both in terms of production values (Art Angels is undeniably better produced) and musical content (imo Halfaxa and Darkbloom are currently her best in terms of subjective music quality, since they both have an extra level of sonic cohesiveness to them that the rest of her releases to date haven't achieved) when viewed within the context of Grimes' overall discography. And since these two particular things happen to be stuff at which Grimes excels, I tend to skip over Visions since it isn't the best example of either thing alone.

With that said, every time I do find myself listening to Visions, I tend to mentally berate myself for constantly underrating it.

Yes, but imo not nearly to the extent that Halfaxa or Darkbloom are. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing desu - what we are talking about here is almost purely a matter of individual taste. To me, Halfaxa and Darkbloom each sound like a singular interesting musical idea stretched out and developed to an extent which is overall very satisfying. In contrast, Visions, Art Angels (and to a lesser extent Geidi Primes) sound more like entire collections of interesting musical ideas, none of which end up getting developed to the extent that they could be due to running-time limitations.

Again - don't get me wrong - I LOVE listening to these albums. However, there are times when listening to them that I can't shake the feeling that I'm just listening to excerpted samples from a bunch of great albums. I'm not alone in thinking this either. Even Grimes has spoken about it as regards upcoming projects:
