Patrician: Alpha Juno
Contrarian: Juno 106
Plebeian: Juno 60
Search your heart you know it's true
roland tb 303 is god tier

but youre absolutely wrong.

Alpha Juno, underrated maybe
but the Juno 106 deserves all the praise it gets and the two are very different synths, using different filter chips and obviously the Alpha has much better midi implementation, but notchier programming
of course tho, the Juno 106 is very easy to emulate, while the Alpha Juno uses many odd tricks like PWMed saw waves, which can create obscure proto super saw tones and is the key to the hoover. im glad i bought mine for when i did, for $80 on cl.
tl;dr they both have their place in dance music and can peacefully coexist
>>72763511
how is the juno 106 contrarian?
>>72763539
no
>>72763511
>being a poorfag
>buying shitty walmart consumer-grade late stage analog synths instead of actual professional grade instruments
>>72763638
you literally have to have a degree in electrical engineering to do the annual service on a Jupiter 8 fuck that im just trying to make house
also implying price/complexity = quality
a Juno 106 is more than enough analog for most people, the rest can be faked with a DX7, an outboard filter, and a few hours
Plebiean: bad sounding synths
Contrarian: good sounding obscure synths
Patrician: getting whatever you can find and making it sound good
>>72763787
this. a synth is only as good as the person programming it, with some exceptions of course
>>72763693
J106 is boring as hell, no matter what you edit it sounds the same. Also the Jupiter calibrations are easy, you just hook up test equipment and measure that shit, and adjust each item until it matches specifications.
>>72763824
you own an oscilloscope huh?
>>72763855
yeah, I bought a working 2213 off ebay for $50
>>72763913
nice. getting serious for a bit, still at the end of the day id rather dump 5k into importing a Toyota Soarer than buying a giant Roland, its such a taxing effort trying to keep many vintage synths safe.
ive never ran into a sound i couldnt program with my Alesis Micron or DX7, albeit with less warmth, but mixed down no one would even know, because everyones a pleb
>>72764004
>spending hours trying to recreate synth sounds
>vs. enjoying a physical, interactive, dynamic performance on an instrument that can be spontaneously captured
>>72763984
Good, keep up the effort.
>>72763638
>>72764082
Why are hardware fags so condescending?
>>72764109
Just taking the piss m8, I don't even own a Jupiter.
