i don't know if a recent pop album has nailed an aesthetic as perfectly as this one. it sounds exactly like the album cover and the music videos are perfect.

Yes, welcome to the club, man. :)

Anyways, have ya listened to any of their albums in full? I'd highly recommend their self-titled if you enjoyed After Laughter. It definitely is more ambitious in length and consequently, not as consistent, but I still consider it a great album especially with the Post-Rock closer "Future".
>>
>>72747805
Also, this guy gets it. All We Know Is Falling is incredibly underrated. It's such a great debut album. It's so consistent. I'd say it's more consistent than the rest of their albums besides After Laughter now. Regardless, everything they've made is great desu.

>>72747929
Paramore have been good, definitely. But their debut is still the weakest of their few - Riot was the compacted streamline of it the very next year
>>
>>72747929
Was gonna mention that one specifically, def their most emo album
>>
Just gave it a listen, definitely much better than the S/T which I felt was bloated and a bit underwhelming aside from Future. They took the "catchy pop tunes with depressing undertones" approach of that album and distilled it into a focused synthpop/new wave effort. Usually not one for pop but they did alright here, though 26 is more reminiscent of the post-BNE Paramore I wish we got and is my favorite song for it.

Brand New Eyes > After Laughter > Riot! > S/T > All We Know Is Falling
>>
Love the vocals and effects, but the instrumental to some songs are god awful.

For told you so the mellow melody was so off base with the vocals. They should have replaced the faint guitar riff with more electronic keyboard like they did later on in the song.

Also, the sound quality for the album leaves a lot to be desired. The fucking instrumental was made for people with sensitive hearing, some songs barely have any life.

I also don't get what no friend is supposed to be. Sounds like audio garbage.
>>
>>72746888
I wish they replaced the hook for "fake happy" with the word "melancholy."

It makes me cringe when I hear that awkward phrase, melancholy would be a lot more apropos and sound better.

Autistic opinion, I know.
>>
>>72746888
Aren't Paramore one of those shit metal bands that are supposedly part of some more sophisticated sub-genre of metal but the only difference is their hairstyles?
>>
>>72748936

I actually really liked No Friend. That repeating guitar line stuck with me and the instrumental still held up even when it dropped out. Not sure what's up with the vocals on it but whatever.

There is no way this band would have survived the 2007-2009 era of emo/screamo/pop punk if it wasn't for Hayley Williams. I heard "That's What You Get" recently, having not heard it in years, and I was instantly taken back to my high school years. But I love pop now, is their new stuff worth listening to?

>>72755376
Absolutely if you're now a pop fan.

TOE was the only bad song on BNE, and they have much prettier ballads now like "Hate To See Your Heart Break" & "Tell Me How"

The s/t is a decent album, but a bit bloated. AL is super comfy like another anon said

Something that appeals to a fraction of the human psyche. Something clicks that makes someone like it, can't explain it, don't know why you like it, it just so happens that you enjoy it.

A person's autism clings to some piece of work. It assuages their carnal needs for Asperger power.

I'd say that Riot! has higher highs than All We Know Is Falling, but I enjoy every track on their debut, while "When It Rains" and "We Are Broken" are low points on their second album.

>>72752418
Super comfy. Every song is great, but I will say that the vocals in "No Friend" are still a little off-putting. It would've been amazing if they turned "No Friend" into a long, Psychedelic Rock/Post-Rock track.

Throw Fences in there and you just listed my favorite songs from Riot!.

>Brand New Eyes is great, but I don't understand how that is such a favorite for many.

For me it's a mixture of things. Thematically it's probably the most angry and confrontational of their records, it's not quite as angsty as the early stuff nor as "look at me, I'm growing up!" as what came after. Hayley really sounds like she has some bones to pick on BNE. Instrumentally, the Farros are incredibly on point, and even when the songs aren't entirely there (like that middle lull you mentioned) their performances carry them farther than they really ought to. Stylistically, it moves out of that pure pop punk sound just a little and shades of indie rock shine in to pepper up the sound a bit - it still feels like the same band that gave us Riot!, but at the same time it sounds like they're trying something just a little different, a little more diverse.

That album had such a great 1-2 punch to start off. I think that's my problem with their post BNE work, BNE was such a "we're fucking mad and we're gonna kick asses to prove it", which they then completely neutered afterwards with the self titled
>>
>>72764124
I'm not saying After Laughter is a 10, it definitely isn't, but hypothetically speaking let's say it is. Anthony would NEVER give it a 10. It has the name "Paramore" attached to it.
>>
>>72765387

>Anthony even touching a Paramore record, let alone reviewing it

I'm not seeing it.
>>
>>72765249
This about BNE. In that regard, I guess it reminds me of what 'nimrod' was for Green Day. These bands are special because, if you like their *general* sound of music, you can see how they brought it down to a perfected, simpler baseline (like RIOT or GD's Kerplunk, Dookie, and Insomniac), perfected that, and then started to show they can keep that up as well as fan out on either side.
++ Honestly, after having AL for a few days, it *does* sound like a matured inverse of the younger, fierier BNE energy. Fighting was a younger peoples' game. On the new album, you can *hear* that Hayley's older & does *not* want to bother with arguments and bickering and all that. Just lighten UP and have fun and "hold onto hope" and all that cheesy-but-pretty shit! In one word, this album just sounds so damn FRIENDLY!

>>72765387
Isn't it weird how he's always surprised they did something good? How did he not at least love those *drums* and vocal melodies from hteir other albums??
>>
