I haven't seen a single thread about the album since it came out. How pleb is /mu/ that they aren't discussing the AOTY
I thought it was pretty good.

sounds like schitzophrenic pearl jam
the fact that they had to crowdsource to get the album to completion kind of turned me off from it desu
>>72707051
haha holy shit... some how that makes sense

It came up a couple of times on Monday. Everyone seemed to agree it's really fucking solid. One guy posted across the threads that it's "Swans for fedoras" and then somebody brought up Death Grips because le black loud singer trollface.png
I'm gonna be unusually honest with you here: I don't want /mu/ to talk about Oxbow. This is place is okay for the occasional laugh, and usually pretty great to get recommendations. But it's fucking godawful for actual substantive discussion.
Niko proved he's some kind of goddamn genius on this one and I hope they have arrangements worked out to play shit live beyond Cold & Well Lit Place and Ecce Homo, which they've already played rough versions of live for a couple years now.

they're fucking terrible at business and they don't understand the modern music industry very well. they blamed piracy for low numbers on The Narcotic Story and sorta felt like the internet is useless for promotion.
I went to one of Eugene's book readings when Long Slow Screw came out, and drunkenly chatted at him for a while after the event. I started to broach the topic about how online music sales aren't the devil and he looked like he was going to slap me, so I dropped it.

that's pretty dumb. still a good album though

They're weird dudes. Expect nothing less.
But yeah. Possibly AOTY. Incredible music.
there have been several threads about it but they all die pretty quickly. only a handful of fans here

1. Oxbow - Thin Black Duke
2. Xiu Xiu - Forget
almost everything else this year has been underwhelming
I'm generally recommending The Upper as the track for friends to hear and evaluate if they wanna check out the whole thing.
I'm so fucking pleased this turned out to be good. Been getting burned left and right on bands that release stuff after long breaks.
I thought it was just alright. I only really liked King of the Jews by them though

its literally a meme on here wtf are you talking about?

They definitely took the mainstream way with this album. Eugene is getting old, he's thinking about his retirement.
