Has everything that can be done in music already been done? When was the last time something truly original came out?
not really I just invented noise house

Is there a such thing as medieval techno
Or more generally, electronic music that incorporates medieval samples, monks singing, gregorian chants, etc.
>>72705974
probably dungeon synth?
>>72705990
Can you post some good examples
>>72706028
https://dungeonsynthcompilation.bandcamp.com/album/ethereal-dungeon-tales
also funnily enough I'd say Oneohtrix has these kind of medieval sounds and is probably the closest you'll get to 'mediveal techno', especially in Garden of Delete
>>72705974
Does combining things count as truly original though.
>>72706092
Maybe not, but it's something that sounds imteresting to me
>>72706065
I will check it out. Thanks anon
>>72706092
Melody is just combining tones though.
>>72706092
sure
there's probably a lot of 'original' things going on but since you probably don't have the concept of it you won't like it. For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKZ9cIPvtbU
It's probably very 'original' but desu what the fuck is going on there
>>72705974
Enigma
>>72705974
Halfaxa
>>72705909
Paul Lansky did this album first btw
>>72705949
Can you share some of it? I'm interested.
Here's some Medieval techno: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F9DxYhqmKw
also ffs listen to more stuff, new things and new sounds always coming out.
both underground and mainstream.
Just because a collective consciousness exists doesn't mean there's no shortage of ideas that warrants unoriginal thought. So no
>>72706450
this
>>72706386
No he didn't

Link?

Came out few days ago...RIGHT HERE OP.
And not everything's been done. People can release basic sounding shit in a new genre, and new sounding shit in an already established genre. Infinite possibilities.
>>72706555
check the archive. the album More than Idle Chatter
what if an album was just released that is as innovative and important as TVU&N but no one knows of it yet because it's being ignored just like TVU&N was at the time
>>72705909
>truly original
well that's so nebulously defined that there's no adequate answer
>>72706450
This song is catchy, but do you have anything less cheesy and dated, maybe more ambient
Is R+7 the logical conclusion to music?
>>72707234
How is it not? Where else can music possibly go in the post-R+7 age?
>>72707263
Well, first off, it's not good.
>>72705974
https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/igorrr/hallelujah/
>>72707282
oh wow
>>72707222
R+7 is quite possibly my favorite album of all time and as a musician I think its some of the best music ever made but it just barely manages to be more complex in structure than Replica. Its still confined to Lopatins typical "synth solo/samples layered over a repeating phrase", which Lopatin is VERY fucking good at. Songs like Americans/Problem Areas/Zebras build up a phrase, then breakdown into ambient interludes, and come back even more complex/with an added "instrument" (pluck organ on zebras, piano on problem areas). In Garden of Delete he attempts to up the complexity a bit but it comes out kind of rough at points, like running through several unrelated ideas. If Lopatin can combine the complexity and dynamics of a classical piece with his mastery of sounds (composing for cello and guitar is nothing like fitting together samples and synths), asound desing, layering, instrumental music (adds to the universality of this masterpiece), and melody, he would make the greatest music of all time.
>>72707448
"asound desing" is sound design idk how tf that happened.
>>72707448
I'm not sure if I can pick a favorite song from R+7. The whole album is so good from start to finish.
Have you ever listened to it on DXM anon
>>72707567
Sorry buddy I'm high on life.
>>72706218
i like this
>>72705974
Baroque house, completely eschewing the use of electronic instruments would be pretty interesting.
>>72706218
What do you mean? This is just techno except the beat is all fucked up
I really like it though. Thanks for sharing.
>>72708449
I was looking for something more along the lines of electronic music that utilizes medieval elements, but your idea could be interesting too.
>>72708575
>This is just techno
>>72708619
I added the caveat that the beat is all fucked up obviously you retard.
It's also really good.
>>72708634
My point is that it's not "techno" at all.
this felt very fresh when it came out last year. never heard a perfect slowcore doomgaze blend before

nah
Arca is another one of few artists that manages to make interesting music with unique sounds and structures and not just wank like these
>>72708844
>>72706218
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SYMoTBYT04
The way this song "drops" is so unique. The synth lead glitches upwards and then everything slams down all at once. There are no snares or kicks and the "hi hats" sound more like gears turning than any coherent rhythm. Then the bass and instruments slowly fade and lag out and the lead synth rises and it all comes slamming down again. No individual instrument is determining the rhythm, the song itself is pulsating. Arca is known more for his unique and organic synths. Unorthodox musical structure is very underrated in general. So much "experimental" music completely eschews any structure and focuses on glitchiness or repetition because coming up with an original and complex musical device is much more difficult than making a bunch of weird sounds.
>>72709030
I like Arca's music but I don't like his degenerate videos.
>>72709102
then you don't understand Arca you plev
Every new idea in the arts since the beginning of basically everything has been a modification of something that came before it or a combination of two different things. There has never been something ENTIRELY original. Inspiration has to come from somewhere.
>>72709129
Yes I do you disgusting fag enabler.
He is a very talented artist and one of my favorites. But that doesn't mean I have to condone his filthy lifestyle.
>>72709129
Wtf does Arcas faggotry have to do with his music? I wrote the post about Vanity I probably understand Arcas music better than you.
>>72709207
>I probably understand Arcas music better than you.
I really doubt that
>>72709030
this track definitely has a snare and a kick
>>72709226
What a productive response. Then explain it to me.
>>72709250
Not on the "drop", the part starting at 28 seconds.
>>72709253
I don't think there's much point in trying to explain it to a homophobic neanderthal such as yourself.
>>72709162
How about G-d?
>>72709286
We're not falling for your propaganda any longer, Shlomo.
