Personal opinion, it's post ironic Elton John with worse instrumentals and a dash of politics. It's got it's moments, if I'm honest. It just ends up being completely forgettable and toothless which seems like exactly the opposite of what he was going for.

It just isn't for plebs, it's a little too complicated for most people.

It's the whole "I don't undastan, so i'm gonna take that as disrespek" phenomenon.

I don't mean to imply it's so heady that people don't get it, but any time someone tries to make statements like this, especially with the attitude FJM does it with, people tend to resent it even if they do a good job.

His other two albums didn't get this reaction because they had different themes for the most part. And they're all good, but I like Fear Fun best.
