Why is Krautrock so "hip" compared to prog when it's just edgier prog rock?
>>72529335
it's groovier
it's better
>>72529335
It's less tacky
>>72529335
because it sounds better, ties into philosophic ideas and is not as corny usually
>>72529335
it substitutes composition for grooves
it's much stupider than angloprog at the end of the day
it's actually good
>>72529381
>>72529407
So you admit it's edgier?

Symphonic prog was an attempt to fuse the excesses of the late Romantic era into rock music. Krautrock was an attempt to fuse the brash experimentation of the 20th century Avant-Garde into rock music. Resultantly symphonic prog comes off as cheesy, pretentious and retrograde while Krautrock comes off as legitimately interesting, original and much cooler to say you listen to. Also Krautrock had less commercial success and is less well-known amongst modern-day plebs while symphonic prog is more popular with the "fedora"/"le wrong generation" crowd. I'd also say Krautrock has been more influential in the long run.
t. Someone who likes both
>>72529335
it's less musical
>>72529464
Why is that a bad thing? The non-meme definition of edgy is positive, you fucking twit.
>>72529556
>Krautrock is much cooler to listen to and more influential while in contrast symphonic prog is more popular despite being less influential and less cool to listen to than Krautrock, prog is also worse mainly because its inspired by classical music
What the fuck does any of this mean? I can't follow your line of thinking at all
Can someone explain to me how any of these variables affect each other?
>>72529335
It has a cooler name and less people know about it.
>>72529335
There's nothing edgy about krautrock
