I've heard Heaven or Las Vegas and it's not quite what I'm looking for. Veers a bit too heavily into dream pop territory to be really similar. Mac's jangly, prominent guitarwork is a key aspect of the appeal for me.

Damn, this almost sounds like a straight ripoff.
Pretty close but I'm mostly looking for older stuff that might have inspired Mac or been a precursor to his style. I've been listening to some 80s jangle pop trying to find something similar but nothing is scratching the same itch.
