Recently got a confirmation for an internship in hong kong and was replaying deus ex during the week end.
I'm in the mood for some chinese music but I realise I've only heard it in soundtracks and I have no idea where to start

Other than the old traditional folk shit, chinks don't make music. Creativity isn't a cultural value over there. Just reverse engineering shit to make rip offs.

Well that's mighty sad. I guess I'm gonna layer some folk over some vangelis to scratch that itch.

That said, you're going to Hong Kong which is going to be WAY less alienating for you than mainland china. HK is much more westernized so there's probably more of a music scene there, but mainland has next to nothing at all.

I wouldn't worry about that, I've been to taiwan before and the shitty c-pop didn't bither me more than what I'm hearing at home on the radio.
I guess I just wanted to hear that non-existent genre you get in the ambience of cyberpunk games.

Are you asking for legitimate Chinese bands or bands that have the stereotypical oriental Chinese sound? Because pic related will satisfy the latter at the very least, despite being an American band.
