>why?
Because /gg/ has 4 consistent posters

1. Guy pretending to be Roman
2. Samuel
3. Guy pretending to be Roman and Samuel
4. The comedy act's straight man(who is ironically a faggot).

It's mostly people who only respond to specific things to their interests, or people trying to troll but failing cause it's weak compared to the actual Roman. Also, people that post for the first time and never come back after realizing this thread is shit.

I actually tracked Roman down to his current email and started shitting on him about a week ago. He claims that he hasn't been on here in a very long time. It was different than how conversation with him used to go, he was obviously irritated that I had contacted him. Not in a way that he seemed upset that he had been tracked down again, but that he was taken off base because he had no idea why someone from 4chan had went through the effort to hunt him down just to call him a cocksucker.

I'm a very skeptical person, my job is to investigate people. The responses he was giving weren't typical of the responses someone gives when they're trying to hide something, and Roman is not clever enough to hide things like that.

And to be honest, I didn't contact him to bitch at him. I wanted to get some insight into a thought I've had for a while; this froosh poster isn't Roman.
>>
>>72453527

Slow it down, when I tried learning fast Coltrane solos I had to slow it down to half speed and it was still hard. Chet Baker is a good guy to copy is you need something slow, he played lots of ballads.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4PKzz81m5c
>>
>>72453809
I think it's the Brazilian poster that did pedal reviews and got run out of /gg/, that or gearspammer instead of spam he just shitposts now. I don't think it's Roman either.

I really like this guy

He was an accordion player that taught himself guitar from accordion and sax knowledge

real strange attack to his notes, like a weird jazzy chet atkins

The lesson here is, ignore shitposting and stop accusing all shitposters in this thread of being one of two people. Seeing someone say "fuck off roman" or "fuck off samuel" every other post is annoying as fuck and is simply more shitposting.

Stop posting about /gg/ and start posting about guitars. I didn't come here to talk about /gg/. I came here to read different perspectives, ideas, and experiences related to guitar and bass.

like i know that the bottom of the pickup is supposed to be a bit higher than the top of it, and it wasn't like that before. idk they were definitely super knowledgable about electronics and shit. maybe it's my amp

Right, right, right, /gg/, I'm gonna need your help here real quick.

I play the bass and have some decent knowledge of music theory, and I'm also completely not awful with an acoustic guitar.

I've been meaning to pick up an electric guitar. The question being "which guitar do I buy?" - that's not as clear as it seems, though, I do realize that. My budget is quite limited. I generally enjoy thinner but longer necks, and for sound if there's one thing I surely enjoy it's the stereotypical Rickenbacker sound if that makes any sense - very jangly, very open, very clear.

Have you got any reccomendations, peeps?

Go do your own research, you lazy little shit. You can't be bothered walk into a music store and try out a few different guitars? Or was your intention to let some autists in a guitar general on 4chan determine what guitar best suits your tastes? If so then you deserve the regrettable garbage you'll inevitably end up with in that scenario. Fucking idiot.

If you're not obsessed you don't deserve good shit.

>>72454784
Honestly, I'm not a fan of the tone of those. All their sets seem to prioritize a warm yet balanced tone, which is nice, but I already get that on my bass with chromes. I'm really looking for something with a powerful midrange, and fret buzz that sits at a relatively low frequency. I think I'm headed towards a coated string for that reason. It should damp the fret noise, and hopefully if the coating is good won't choke much else. I also get the feeling I want a thick core from the demos I've heard, as that seems to have a better midrange. I'm getting these to use with a pick, so I expect fret noise, I just want it to sit and the right frequency.

This is all just stuff to look for though, in the end I just want to look for a demo that I can hear the sound I'm looking for in.

Most jazz musicians aren't "making up chords". As a rhythmic instrument, jazz guitarists typically stick to 4-note chords and inversions, with substitutions and extensions throughout their comping. The only notable jazz guy who approached lead and rhythmic improvising in the way you're describing was Holdsworth.

It's not so much about playing a bunch of chords really fast as it is about getting comfortable with playing traditional jazz cadences and then being able to transpose them in your head. After a couple minutes you'll get pretty comfortable with the movement of the chords in each key and you'll be able to move them around pretty quickly. What's more impressive is the ability to move from dissonance to consonance at the same time through the use of shifting chromatic passages, but again that's something that comes with practice.

you're asking about all these problems is an indication you dont have enough knowledge on how guitar string works, go reasearch the physics, find out whats fucking up your shit, and do it yourself.

also, youd probably not want to move the whole bridge, just the last saddle for the low e. but thats not really possible with a shitty one peice bridge like that idk...careful rotation and measurement. i still dont see how a playble guitar cant intonate your low E...like wtf if it sucks that bad you need a new guitar

Strat sounds like a crying baby. Gibson and a Marshall sounds like a drunk, real man. Literally the only way to play rock without looking like a fuccboi.
>>
>>72462391
ok school me then.

no its not my technique as when i'm setting it up i press the string as light as it the note still rings right, and i press not far from the fret so it cant be bent. just to prevent it from going sharp from my fretting.

i'm measuring the distance from the top of the last fret and the string, whatever
>>
>>72462433
>a drunk, real man
why is this making me laugh
>>
>>72462438
think about the true axis of the string
are you pulling horizontally on the string?
press on random frets to see how far string deviates from straight line and minimize that. do you pluck hard?

measuring the distance from the top fo the "last fret" which could be anything from 12 to 36 and youre not even pressing down the string at the first fret so your nut height is affecting measurements etc. dig deeper i.e git gud
>>
>>72462485
>are you pulling horizontally on the string?
no dude i already said i'm not retarded and i fret the string carefully when checking the intonation

no i dont pluck hard when checking the intonation.
i'm not complaining about intonation when i'm playing im just checking it nice and gently, and its shap.

the last fret is the 22 one
i wasnt aware of pressing the first fret when checking the action height, thanks for pointing that out, i'll check it that way later

SGs, Les Paul Customs, and ES models are where it's at. their primary demographic is definitely dads though. most indie kids can't afford gibsons so they buy offsets instead.

for a serious answer now

either a danelectro, a strat, or a tele. basically any guitar with single coils, or lipstick tubes. now do the rest of your research like a good fa/gg/ot does, because i'm sure you'll have a lot more questions now. google will help answer them
>>
>>72462318
How would you rate the lifespan of those? I've actually been looking at those strings as well, I figure compression wound might last a bit longer.
>>
anyone else feel lewd when cleaning their guitar/other instrument?

>decide to swap fresh strings (finally)
>take strat and pillow along with the necessary tools to the kitchen table
>lay guitar on pillow and proceed to remove old strings
>use a brush and lightly remove dirt/dust/shit that's not supposed to be on the guitar
>apply cleaning agent on the front and gently wipe the front side of strat
>still have the plastic wrap on the pickguard cuz "muh precious"
>so be even more gentle to not ruin it even though it's peeling off on its own
>get between every nook and cranny of the bridge/saddles
>turn her around
>feel a bit of nervousness for never noticing the back side of strat
>spray down the back the same way as the front
>work my way from the headstock all the way to the neck plate giving it a nice polish
>grab onto the contoured body of strat as i begin to wipe down
>feel all the curves of the body and how smooth it is
>work a circular motion towards the bottom to the strap button
>mfw i just groped my strat and liked it
>>

Holy shit I thought the black part was because of the light or something, that is the worst looking piece of shit I've ever seen. You know what, I want to kill myself because of this. I've had thoughts of ending it all for a long time, but seeing this image has pushed me over the line. The mere fact that an image like this can exist is proof that there is no God or Jesus. There is only pain, and that pain has manifested itself in the form of this image. The more I look at it, the further into the abyss I see. I can no longer feel love. I can no longer feel hate. I can only feel a profound sorrow and emptiness. This image is a result of the depravity of our generation and paints a hopeless future for us as a species. It shows exactly how low humanity is capable of stooping to, the immeasurable suffering we can inflict. There is nothing to look forward to, nothing to be hopeful for. This image is proof that nothing in this world matters. I wish I could erase this image from existence, take the matter that allows it to exist and transport it to another universe. But that would be too convenient. I can't live with the fact that I exist in the same plane of existence as this image. I hope whoever created this image is eaten by a pack of wolves. I hope their soul rots in Hell for all eternity. They deserve no love, compassion, or forgiveness. Their very existence makes the world a worse place to live in. But no matter what happens to them, it still will not prevent this image from having been created. That simple fact fills me with immeasurable rage and dread, for we have dragged humanity down as low as it can go. We have reached the bottom of the barrel. Now the universe is crying out in pain, and there is nothing we can other than remove ourselves and let the tides of time decompose the matter that makes up this image and hopefully restore the balance that was destroyed when this image was created.

I usually watch a live performance, get my hands where their's are, and play around with the pegs until it sounds right. It takes a long time, and it kind of sucks.

>owns tele

Glass houses etc
>>
>>72469102
Listen for the open strings. Lowest and highest are usually really easy to pick out. That'll give you a good idea of what the tuning is already.
>>
>>72469286
that's not a tele you fucktard

same way that's not a les paul and a strat
>>
>>72469421
no that wont help to give an idea of telling open E vs standard tuning
>>
>>72469502
yes they sound very well like les paul, strat and tele respectively. they stand very well for they are, very proudly.
>>
>>72469522
He asked for a tip, that's a tip. Obviously you don't stop trying to hear the open strings once you have those two, those are just the easiest. And also open tunings are easy to tell from others, the chord voicings are much different and people tend to bounce off the open strings way more often
>>
>>72469551

Considering moving from acoustic to electric, but I don't know much about them. I don't want to buy something too expensive because this is just a side hobby for me, but I don't want to get something cheap and shitty either - what's an optimal mid-range variant?

>>
>>72469756
epiphone les paul or mexican strat. those are about 500 ish and get cheaper used. stay in tune pretty well and sound good. good amp will be around 200 at least or you can use a computer
>>
just a though /gg/

>>72469864
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
>>
>>72467246

I've never understood the people who don't take the plastic off:

If you actually gig with it, it's going to develop way more than a scratched pickguard.

If it's a rare collectors piece, keeping the plastic isn't really going to add to the value either.
>>
>>72469857
why care about a good amp if it has decent bassy speakers. buzzy distortion can sound mean and agressive if you're not a sissy aiming for soft and polished tube distorted tone.

>>72470001
