What did he mean by this? It's like he's still experimenting and just gathering a huge amount of stuff he's tried or toyed with, but the album seems to lack any general direction. I'm at the point that I'd argue it'd be a better album if he cut it down to ~60 minutes and polished it a bit more, focused on the stuff he's personally really satisfied with.

Any thoughts? Also, listening to >literally four hours and twenty minutes is a massive pain in the ass. You can't enjoy this whole thing in one go. Hell, I'd argue it's the kind of album you can listen to on shuffle.

I feel like these 4+hour albums ARE the polished stuff that he's satisfied with. I wouldn't be surprised if these three albums were cut from several dozen hours of material. In fact that's probably why he deleted all of his old stuff, because he felt that it was amateurish and inferior.

I mean think about it, when you listen to these albums, are there ever times when you think "ugh this is so boring" or "this is definitely filler"? Because I don't, I'm not saying I listen all in one sitting every time but when I do take the time to listen to some of it I'm never bored.

Yeah this is a very weird project. The fact that you can't listen to it in one go makes it harder to familiarise yourself with the album as a whole.
And then all the tracks are the exact same length and might as well have no title.
Plus the factor that he's released two follow ups in the same format and style makes it impossible to distinguish these three albums. I can tell you that K from Phonemenomicon is the one with the Metroid sample and Rr3 off the new one has the "smoke weed everyday sample" but that's all I can remember.
Very weird listening experience - its basically impossible to get a grasp on the albums and that basically forces you to treat them as background music, or one continuous whole.

His albums are like a huge, continous slurry of good instrumental hip-hop, but how are you supposed to take anything from it if you just don't manage to develop a feeling for it?
It's like watching a movie which is just a bunch of pleasant scenes, but doesn't have anything else. You might like watching it, but it's difficult to feel invested.

I think the second album, Lexemenomicon, is probably his best work. Haven't started to listen to the third because I just found out about it today.
I think Scaruffi will probably rate Lexemenomicon as an 8 or even a 7.5. Don't think he will give up that 8.5 or 9 for a second album that is so similar to his first, it is the exact same formula more or less.
