Why is UP the only Joy Division album I see discussed when Closer is objectively better?
Explain why you feel this way

I'm a contrarian

Because Unknown Pleasures is really influential and made a bigger impact than Closer did. While I don't think they're better than each other, I like them both for different reasons because they are two different albums with two different styles.

T-Shirt sales

Because 90% of the people who bought their Unknown Pleasures shirt from Hot Topic have only heard Disorder and Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Both of those songs are still 10/10. LWTUA isn't even on either of their albums

This.
Best of Joy Division was actually their best stuff packaged into one album, unlike most best of albums.

>isn't
Wasn't. Re-issues are what most fans of JD have heard.

that was kinda the point I was making. Plebs who wear Joy Division shirts to their high schools or colleges don't really know shit about Joy Division. I've seen literal basic bitches wearing Unknown Pleasures t-shirts.

I feel like closer had a bigger impact on goth music. Some of the melodies on it are used in so many goth songs

It is a pretty dope album cover. Too bad it's a meme now
