It's the backstory and the context. One of the greatest producers in hip-hop laid on his death bed and made this album. It's had for me to hear this without that context since I heard it like a week after it released, and I was still young so it really struck a chord with me. Brought me to tears desu. The music itself isn't necessarily his best, it's probably a 7/10 album overall. But with the context, it becomes really human and personal that this was someone's last impact on the earth before they passed on. Idk, you either get it or you don't. I'm a generally empathetic person so I guess I get it easier.
