it was a historical movement and scene. you cant be krautrock unless you were making a specific style of prog in the 60s and 70s in germany. simple as that. you can be krautrock influenced but oyu cant be krautrock.....

The whole point of the distinction is that it's such a broad movement. That's why it is defined historically. If it was just a specific style of prog then there would be no stopping anyone from classifying their music as krautrock. The point is that it's not specific.
