there's a pretty cool band from Seattle that just broke up called Nail Polish
http://nailpolishseattle.bandcamp.com/album/authentic-living
idk if they're one of the greats but it is pretty great you decide
Bump.
Seeing tera melos when that tour starts up
Red Medicine is better than Repeater
>>72326177
agree so much
>>72325823
June Of 44 sucks. A Minor Forest is much better.
bamp for Patrician taste, postrock should prolly be included.
>>72326731
A Minor Forest is definitely great.
>>72326147
good, I also heard they are working on their new album. Can't wait to hear it. Patagoniain Rats is my favourite. X'ed Out was good, but the production quality was pretty bad tbqh
>>72326177
i like repeater but imo at least a couple of their albums are much better
I'm sorry, but if you prefer rock to rap in 2017 you are a racist.
Over the Edge is GOAT
>>72326177
And In on the Kill Taker is better than Red Medicine.
>>72329076
that's very good, but feel it is too much of a slint-ripoff-core

>Any (obscure) albums/artists that belong amongst the greats?
Faraquet, Brainbombs, Sea Scouts, Shellac, Whores, Pain Teens, Oxbow, Mclusky, STNNNG, Daughters, Unsane and Rapeman are all worth giving a chance
Anyone ever got to see Brainbombs live? What was it like?
Chavez.

Are Black Flag planning on making any more new Music after that trash 4 years ago?
Who thought it was a good idea to try it without Rollins?
God I'm STILL disgusted by it.
>>72328476

>>72329928

>>72329991

Anyone heard of Blood Command before? I just found em this week, love em.
also Bikini Kill
>>72330484
Call The Doctor and Dig Me Out by Sleater_Kinney are GOAT too.
>>72326177
Steady Diet is the patrician choice
If you like any of the examples above, I suggest you give these Edinburgh guys, Fatalists, a spin, very alt 80s/90s..

Calm down son, Tera Melos is borderline lolsorandomxDcore. This is nothing to lose your shit over.
>>72325823
Archers Of Loaf is by far the best band on that list.

>>72330887

Are these genres dead? Are there any bands that make music like this today?
>>72333171
Les savy fav. Deerhunter. Deerhoof.
>>72333171
Math rock, noise rock and post-punk are definitely still going very strong. You can find new bands in all three genres on a regular basis without even really trying, just browse some sharethreads of something and you'll find plenty.
>>72329928
Someone needs to make a pigfuck chart
>>72334092
Yeah but are they good or are they infected/semi-influenced by poppunk, emo, screamo, nu-metal, etc. Since the current bands all grew up with that music. If there's a hint in any new bands, I have to change the song immediately.

>>72325823
Why is normie-tier Pixies, Modest Mouse, and Built to Spill on your list?
>>72330912
Used to see them quite a bit. Yow was one of the best live performers since Iggy Pop. Truly an amazing band.
Re math rock from this era - anyone still listen to Voivod?
>>72336000
too canadian.
everybody asleep?

THE fucking GOAT
>>72329900
Checked. How is it anywhere in the territory of a Slint ripoff? Slint never had six minute guitar latticeworks. Slint never went as hardcore as Rodan.

They have different schools of thought, but I do think A Minor Forest are miles better at being quiet than June Of 44.
>>72334038
Add Viet Cong to that list.

>>72338517
that's not really the same genre. that's more psychedelic dadrock. krautrock and interesting progressive like king crimson or even a captain beefheart or television might fit in.
looking for non-normie, non-dad rock, that might be abrasive, but is most certainly arty or the intention in creating it, was that it wouldn't fit in with top 40 music/or the makers of it cared about the art of it much more than hit singles.
>>72338580

>>72338652
never heard it. only a greatest hits comp. godzilla, burnin' 4 you, and don't fear the reaper are all ultra dadrock
>>72330728
This
>>72338684
>never heard it
Then your opinion is irrelevent. Its smack dab between king crimson and black sabbath.
