OP I've been a fan of Kanye since I was 10, so more than 50% of my life. If you really want to get into Kanye past his top YouTube hits, you literally have to listen to all of his albums in chronological order without skipping a song, and listen to them all in one sitting or as close to one sitting as possible. This also includes listening to his two comp albums Watch the Throne(2011) and Cruel Summer(2012) in between My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy(2010) and Yeezus(2013).

As an optional primer, listen to Jay Z's albums The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2 and The Black Album. These are albums where Kanye produced huge mainstream tracks and made his fame in order to set the stage for his rap career.

Only once you've done all of this will you get the scope of Kanye's career and staggering 21 Grammy awards.
