He truly is the kang of kangz

Also, every song is caps, symbolizes bluntness and forwardness but contrasted against sensitive song titles such as "love" and "humble" (this is pretty deep btw)

One of the songs is called "GOD" but the lyrics deal with seemingly mundane topics, or as I like to call them, tupacs. In this way, Kendrick beautifully associates God with everyday life of millions of black people, which is incredibly, incredibly deep.

would you expect any less from an artist who has such a deep and poetic album cover? he has stripped the conventions of art and helped us see how abrasive and raw typography can really be so deep and poetic.

I like his albums but this is LITERALLY what I see on /mu/ in favor of his work.

Observe the color of the font, "red"
Observe the title of the first song, "BLOOD."

Now tell me...what color is blood?

Fucking genius. Kendrick Lamar Duckworth is a mother-fucking genius.
>>
>>72267399
>You should chip a nigga, then throw the blower in his lap
>Matter fact, I'm 'bout to speak at this convention
>Call you back—

>Alright, kids, we're gonna talk about gun control
(Pray for me)
>Damn!

what part of this is not deep senpai?

>>72267399

from MemeGenius:

>After leaning into his own disgust for how he would react if someone wronged him, Kendrick then speaks at a convention on gun violence as a way of exposing his own hypocritical nature. This line is the hinge of the song that allows the listener to shift the way that we understand and process the first half of the song. Kendrick displays this two-faced nature in order to trigger a response from the listener that provokes them to realize their own possible hypocrisies. The idea that Kendrick is talking about gun control and violence at this convention runs in stark contrast to the preceding verse, which details his support for taking murderous revenge.

It should be said that this contributes to the duality and contrast that Kendrick, and many humans, face between desiring righteousness and peace, or the “fruits of the Spirit,” versus serving the flesh and its worldly desires, which include personally avenging oneself. Kendrick has to reconcile these two forces which are in opposition to each other. When dealing with violence to his family, Kendrick openly acknowledges that he is easily prone to desire vengeance through violent measures, but given a platform upon which to spread his voice, Kendrick will be telling kids what his Spirit desires- peace, humility, and leaving vengeance to be handled by the Lord.

As the second verse heavily deals with the political state of America, the idea of Kendrick going to a gun control seminar after murdering someone is meant to outline the hypocrisy of his actions in the song, which is representative of the hypocritical nature of American politicians. Hence, Kendrick asks his listeners to pray for him to find a resolution.
>>
>>72267523
wow now the album name makes sense
>>
>>72268132
cont:

>This all ties back to the track “FEEL.” in which Kendrick questions if anybody would pray for him, and serves the theme of the album as a whole. It helps us understand why the album is titled DAMN. — because Kendrick has to balance this terrible struggle of the vices of humanity that he is practically forced to deal with, and his genuine desire to submit to God’s will and encourage others to do the same.

The whole project is about these conflicts that come with a) being a human and b) the fame. DAMN. is just the most fitting expression to put it all in one word. He can make the world a better place but DAMN. he has got to suffer through some very difficult and testing trials while he does.

>>
>>72268062
fairly cursory analysis of the album cover frankly, it's not so much the color of the dreaded and loaded word "DAMN" but its prominence and the sheer space it takes up which makes it difficult to ignore. kendrick is telling us that as a black man in america he is dreaded and his issues are loaded therefore he is hard to ignore. very deep and poetic stuff.
>>
>>72268150
i don't really get the joke, guys.

if kendrick's not trying to be deep, why is he chastised for pretending to be? he literally says people read too much into his lyrics on the fucking project...which truly is a step back to basics and a pure rap album.

no everything has to be some fucking long-form piece of literature meant for top 40 radio. your guys' autism mixed with the autism of stans on memegenius actually makes discussion impossible

>>
>>72268560
you're laughing at people reading too far into it. but many people here think that because there's not much to need to read into, that it isn't nearly as good a project as people think. and those people are partially incorrect; the project is still very good
>>
if you didnt realize kendrick lamar was a complete fucking ape when you heard the lyric "got a high tolerance when your age don't exist" then you need to stop posting about music here

damn...

I have some further insight, particularly on DNA
>I got loyalty, royalty inside my dna (sperm)
In the song Black friday, kendrick spits over J.cole's 'Tale of 2 Citiezzzzzzzz' instrumental, and states:
>My DNA is DMT, I'm so real

Now clearly DMT isn't loyalty or royalty, the letters 'DMT' aren't even in the words 'Loyal' or 'Royal'

Thus it's clear kendrick is a hippokrit and therefore his music is controversial
