How does rap manage to be so fun to listen to, and so hype, yet at the same time have such complex themes and messages?
Is it the most intellectual and artistic music genre ever?

this but unironically
I think the fast way the singers recite the lyrics is what makes rap fun to hear. Rappers are usually good rhymers too.
It has a lot of potential as a musical genre
but Lil Yachty just dropped a video for "I play peekaboo with the pussy"
And Target's board members went "we need that kid selling Bounce detergent"
So that's what hip hop is right now
Normally I would dismiss this as bait but with all the incessant newfaggotry on this board recently I'm not so sure.

you right
It's not like they ever pause a hip hop music video so that the protagonist can pick up their Special Edition Beats by Dre In-Ear Bassboosted Headphones or drink a cold refreshing Sprite with their codeine.
I'm not saying all artists are selling out, that's really not the case. But hip hop is profitable and companies are taking every opportunity they can to wedge themselves into the music.

Brands are part of modern life. Brands represent our deepest desires and aspirations. Being able to connect with Brand Hype in such a visceral way is an asset for hip hop. That's why nothing else can't compete at least for now.

Cold like a sprite soda
Cold like a sprite soda
Really makes you think...
if you think rap is anything other than degenerate and a cultural holocaust, you're a fucking worthless addition to society.
