why do people hate Oasis?
currently listening to Definitely Maybe and it's actually pretty catchy britpop

It's background music for a party, nothing more.
They're okay...
Anyway here's wonderwall

Yes, but my point is Oasis aren't worth going out of your way to listen to

Your a background in parties
I love Definitely Maybe, to me that album is just the sound of cocaine. Morning Glory was a lot more cheesy but still pretty good imo, but they never reached that level anymore. I can understand why people would hate on Oasis because their songwriting was never anything groundbreaking, but I guess I love the fact that they're just arrogant, explosive blokes from Manchester. Liam has a voice that's difficult to love (it's just shit nowadays), and Noel is not particularly good at playing guitar. But goddamn, the way they broke through is still legendary to me.

BTFO
I grew up hearing 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger' butchered by every awful street busker or piped from sound systems in every supermarket. It's gets to you after a few years. This band are also universally loved by the types of people I don't want to associate with (beige office types, people I went to school with, soccer hooligans).

Personally Morning Glory feels like a masterpiece. I do enjoy the catchy melodies with the droning sound. Probably mixed with nostalgia too from my dad playing it all the time.

Same here, this is what put me off them totally in the end.

Oasis are objectively the greatest band of all time. Even this easy listening version of Wonderwall made it to number 2 in the charts, Blur couldn't manage that, the soft southern puffters.
