I enjoy it too. For reasons I can't explain. The style with no substance meme that has afflicted all popular music got to me too. Pride is amazing. One of Kenny's best songs. 2nd half of DNA is fucking mental. Apart from that most of the songs are good or mediocre. Compared to TPAB where every song (apart from Complexion and You Ain't Gotta Lie) was amazing. This inconsistency and the underwhelming album structure makes this probably the worst Kendrick album since Section 80. Hell, even Untitled Unmastered felt more interesting and creative than Damn.

I think the lyrics are what really sell the song for me. The "in another life, I surely was there" line really ties in with the whole album's theme of reality being perched on a spiderweb thin series of coincidences where one small event can change everything.

The thought of another life in which everything is serene and has gone right makes what would just be a beautiful, dreamy beat, into a truly amazing song.
