you just reminded me of a similar experience
i was searching for a green tinted album that i thought was in french and with a girl on the cover

turns out i was looking for belle and sebastian (for some reason i thought they were french and that the main singer was a woman) and i had mixed the covers of if you're feeling sinister with the boy with the arab strap (pic related)

Semi on topic, there's an album that I heard on bandcamp that I can't find again.

The cover is a high contrast black and white silhouette with some other stuff in the background I think. The music is emo/screamo/powerviolence ish at times, mathy at times
